La capilla abierta de Teposcolula un edificio único en el mundo: Análisis arquitectónico de edificios dominicos en la Mixteca mexicana

Resumen: Tres complejos monásticos de gran envergadura se construyeron entre 1535-1580 en la región llamada La Mixteca; son los monasterios de Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca y San Pedro y San Pablo Teposcolula. Los dominicos encargaron estos ambiciosos proyectos a arquitectos y maestros constructores traídos de España a México. Los conjuntos monumentales fueron planeados de forma que se usara la tecnología más avanzada del momento creando edificios monumentales para aquella época. Este estudio intenta presentar las particularidades de estos edificios desde el punto arquitectónico y constructivo enfatizando el ejemplo de la capilla abierta de Teposcolula.
Abstract: Three largue monasctic complexes were built between 1535-1580 in the region called “La Mixteca”. They are the monasteries of Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, San Juan Bautista Coixtlahuaca y San Pedro y San Pablo Teposcolula. The Dominican friars commissioned these ambitious projects to Arquitects and builders brought from Spain to México. The monastic ensembles were planned so that they would use the latest technology at the time creating monumental buildings. This paper aims to present the features of these buildings using the lens of Architecture. The architectural and constructive analysis emphasizes in the open chapel of Teposcolula, which is a unique building featuring architectural highlights based the harmonious relationship between the use of the building technology and the elements that compose the building itself.
