Abstract
ABSTRACT: The five unpublished letters of the scholar and scientist, Dominican father Arintero, sent to another distinguished scholar of his time, the priest Arboleya Martínez, have the merit of introducing in the ideological contest held in the Spain of late 19th century between two opposite mental tendencies related to the faith-sciences dilemma. Before a stale and sterile fundamentalism and a deconstructed faith and on the defensive the p. Arintero advocates a reasoned and reasonable opening for the sciences that promotes a better understanding of the faith and Scripture.
