Foundation and history of the Collegium of Santo Domingo in Jaen
Abstract
The author offers us in this work the highlights of the historical fundation Collegium of Santo Domingo de los Predicadores; created by Francisca Peñalosa when she made a will on August 31, 1531, leaving her assets to the priory of Santa Catalina Mártir, Jaen (Spain), its end, which friars pray for her soul at that of her husband, creating at the same time a series of scholarships for dominican students. The life of this foundation lasted almost five hundred years, its ideals always being faithful, and conserving its founding capital, a truly admirable fact. The purpose of this relationship is precisely to make the echo of these moments continue to extend into the future.
