El convento de Santo Domingo de Cáceres: Historia y Arte
Abstract
RESUMEN: Estudio de investigación sobre el importantísimo convento de San- to Domingo de Guzmán de la ciudad de Cáceres, ubicado en la colación de Santiago, construido en el siglo XVI en un solar en el que estaban la ermita de San Bartolomé y las Cárceles del Corregimiento, bajo los auspicios de doña Catalina de Saavedra, interviniendo en las mismas los maestros Blas Martín Nacarino, Hernando Martín Nacarino, Gabriel de Roa y Jusepe Paniagua, llevándose a cabo en los siglos siguientes importantes obras de remodelación. Ocupado por los franciscanos y expulsados tras el proceso desamortizador, regresa la Orden franciscana a Cáceres en el año 1915, no pudiendo ocupar su antiguo convento que se encontraba en ruinas, adaptándose a una vivienda junto a la antigua iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, que había pertenecido al convento dominico de Santo Domingo. ABSTRACT: Research of the most important convent of St. Dominic of Guzmán of the City of Cáceres, located in the collation of Santiago, built in the sixteenth century on a site where was the hermitage of San Bartolomew and the Jail of the Corregimiento, under the auspices of Dona Catalina de Saavedra, with the participation of teachers Blas Martín Nacarino, Hernando Martín Nacarino, Gabriel de Roa and Jusepe Paniagua. Important renovations were carried out and in the following centuries.. Occupied by the Franciscans and expelled after the process of confiscation, the Franciscan Order returns to Cáceres in 1915, but being unable to occupy her old convent that was in ruins, they adapted to a house next to the old church of Our Lady of the Rosary which had belonged to the Dominican monastery of St. Dominic.
