Priores del Real Convento de Santo Domingo de Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz)

Abstract

RESUMEN: La intención del autor es poner nombre y fecha a los priores que se han sucedido en el Real Convento de Santo Domingo, de Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), desde el 13 de septiembre de 1267, data a la que pudiéramos llamar “Carta Fundacional del Convento”, firmada por el rey Alfonso X el Sabio. ¡750 años de vida! El trabajo tiene dos partes: en la primera se recurre a la investigación previa realizada por fray Jesús J. Sagredo, que relata la sucesión de priores desde 1300 a 1835, fecha de la supresión del convento por la Desamortización, y que con ligeras modificaciones, reproducimos íntegramente. En la segunda parte, presentamos la relación de prioratos desde la restauración del convento en 1897; para éste último periodo ofrecemos nombre completo, datos personales y fecha de inicio y término de todos y cada uno de los priores que se han sucedido hasta la fecha actual. ABSTRACT: Author´purpose is to elucidate the name and date of the Priors that suceded at the Royal Monastery of St. Dominic in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) since13 September 1267, -data file that can be considered a “Foundation Charter of the Monastery”- signed by King Alfonso X “the Wise”, which means 750 of life! The work has two parts. In the first, a preliminary investigation is made by Friar Jesús J. Sagredo, who reports on the succession of priors from 1300 to 1835, when the convent was suppressed by the Disentailment (Government´s Seizure). We reproduced it in full whit slight modifications. In the second part, we present the relation of priories since the restoration of the convent in 1897. For this last period we offer ful name, personal data and date of beginning and end of all each and every one of the priors who secceded to the prersent time.
