The construction of Saint Catherine of Siena’s Convent, during the first third of the 16th century, is an example of how the village of Zafra was adjusting its road to new cloister necessities and how it affects the natural drainage system of periodic inundations. Additionally, It is a proptype of Mudejar edifices of that century which have bequeathed us excellent wood ceilings that still cover up the church in spite of the abandonment by cloister nuns community. A trace that persisted in the construction methods of master builders and carpenters until well into the following century.
