Abstract: This paper is intended to investigate the historical trajectory of the Dominican convent of the Holy Martyrs, one of the three communities which were established in Cordova during centuries 16th to 17th. Despite the reduced numbers of friars and the shortage of economics resources, they developed a commendable pastoral work focused on the neighbourhood of Santiago, boosting and maintaining devotions deeply rooted in the area such as the one of the Holy Patrons of the city, St Acisclo and St. Victoria, whose relics are venerated in this temple. In addition, this community conducted a laudable effort on the conversion of Berbers to the Christianity in which collaborated the renowned Blessed brother Francisco de Posadas. The patronage and sponsorship of the Counts of Torres Cabrera is a determining factor in the progress of this monastery, which presents symptoms of the crisis with the secularization of 1810 and 1821, until disappearing with the one carried out at 1835.
