Los dominicos y la devoción almeriense a la imagen de Santa María de la Mar
Abstract
Resumen. Trata este artículo de la devoción secular que la ciudad de Almería tiene a la Imagen de la Virgen del Mar. Una devoción vinculada a los frailes que en el convento de Santo Domingo el Real encontró su inició, desarrollo y consolidación. En torno a esta Imagen los frailes han procurado aglutinar el fervor popular y confirmado por los favores que por su intercesión, tanto particulares como la Ciudad, han experimentado en las circunstancias que en el desarrollo del mismo mostramos. Los documentos que recogemos directamente de las actas del ayuntamiento rubrican el tema central del mismo. Hacemos un recorrido por los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII, y puntualmente los años del XIX hasta el momento de la desamortización de Mendizábal.

Abstract. This article is about the secular devotion that the city of Almeria has to the Image of the Holy Virgin of the Sea. One devotion related to the friars that in the Saint Dominic's the Royal priory was born, grew up and made it strong. The friars tried to join the popular fervour around this Image. And in this article, we show that this fervour was confirmed by the favours that for its intercession to anonymous people or to the whole City, they have felt in all circumstances. The documents that we have take directly from the city council acts are the main point of the article. We will a round by the 16th, 17th, 18th Centuries, and sometimes the 19th until the moment of the Mendizabal's confiscation.
