Los Dominicos en Ronda (Málaga). Los conventos de San Pedro Mártir y de la Madre de Dios
Abstract
RESUMEN. La fundación del primer convento dominico en el reino de Granada tras la conquista del reino nazarí tuvo lugar en 1486 por Real Cédula dada por los Reyes Católicos. Llamado en un principio Santo Domingo de la Vera Cruz pasó a titularse San Pedro Mártir el Real de la Vera Cruz de Ronda a partir de 1492 fecha en la que se asienta en su ubicación definitiva intramuros de la ciudad. En la década de 1520 se establece el convento de monjas dominicas de Madre de Dios en el arrabal de la Puente a iniciativa de los frailes dominicos de San Pedro Mártir y del clérigo sevillano D. Fernando de Oviedo. En este trabajo se estudia su establecimiento, la ampliación de ambos conventos y los pleitos a los que se enfrentaron en sus primeros años del siglo XVI en Ronda (Málaga). The foundation of the first dominican convent in the kingdom of Granada after the conquest of kingdom nazari took place in 1486 by royal writ given by the Catholic Kings.First called Santo Domingo de la Vera Cruz late titled San Pedro Mártir el Real de la Vera Cruz de Ronda since 1492, date on which its finally located within the walls of the city. In the decade of 1520 the convent of dominican nuns of La Madre de Dios is set in the outskirts of Puente at the initiative of the dominican friars from San Pedro Mártir and the sevillian cleric D. Fernando de Oviedo. In this work we study their settlement, the enhancement of both convents and the litigations they faced off in the first years of the XVICentury in Ronda (Málaga).
