Abstract

Abstract: The Dominican friars exercised an important apostolic work in Galicia following the example of saint Dominic de Guzmán and his immediate disciples. They founded convents in major cities and Galician towns, the first being that of Santiago de Compostela. From there began its expansion in Galicia. Dominican Galician iconography preserved in monasteries and in some cathedrals offers some peculiarities related to the Jacobean iconography and the apostolic mission of the friars. This paper reflects on the Galician images of saint Dominic de Guzmán, saint Vincent Ferrer and saint Peter of Verona.
