En defensa del patrimonio dominicano: el caso del Colegio de San Gregorio de Valladolid
Abstract
RESUMEN. En los años inmediatos de la Desamortización, la Capilla y el edificio del famoso Colegio de San Gregorio fueron ocupados por diversas instituciones vallisoletanas. Restaurado a finales del siglo XIX el convento de San Pablo, sus frailes consiguió eventualmente utilizar la Capilla. Asimismo, entre 1926 y 1930, la Orden dominicana emprendió las acciones oportunas para recuperar el edificio colegial. Esta investigación desvela las gestiones de su representante oficial, Fray Raimundo Castaño, mediante las cartas hasta ahora inéditas con la Casa Real, ministros y rectorado de la Universidad de Valladolid, ante el ministerio de Instrucción Pública y Bellas Artes regentado por Eduardo Callejo. During the years that immediately followed the confiscation, the Chapel and the building of the famous San Gregorio College were occupied bry several institu- tions of Valladolid. The San Pavlo convent was restored by the end of the XIXth Century when the friars could eventually managed to use the Chapel. During the period from 1926 till 1930 the Dominica Order stardted actions in order to recover the collegiate building. The present research shows the efforts and the necessary steps taken by de Orders´s representative fray Raimundo Castaño, towards the mentioned recovery. This was carried on through the till now unpublished letters he sent to the Royal Houshold, ministers. The rectorship of de Valladolid University, and also to the mininstry of Public Education and Fine Arts, directed by Eduardo Callejo.
