Fray Pedro Gerard López, OP. (1871-1919), en sus escritos del Yo
Abstract
RESUMEN: Las interioridades del padre fray Pedro Gerard López (1871-1919) a través de sus escritos y declaraciones, manifiestan una evolución personal. Desde sus estudios y enseñanza apasionada de las Ciencias Naturales a una dedicación vocacional a la causa de la acción Social Católica. Una verdadera “conversión” de la que él mismo da cuenta en entrevista. Su Diario recoge gran parte de sus afanes, de sus luchas y contradicciones. “Mi cruz -dirá- son las persecuciones de los nuestros; es muy pesada, muy pesada, pero yo no la dejo, yo no abandono al obrero por dar satisfacción a ricos egoístas… Seguiré en la brecha hasta que Dios quiera”. Pedro Gerard López in this writings and statements exhibited a personal evolution from his studies and passionated teahing of Natural Sciences to a vocational dedication to Catholic action social. A true “conversión” that was made clear by himself in an interview. His Diary reflects much of this eagerness, his struggless and contradictions. “My cross is the persecution of our own people. It´s very hard, very hard, but I don´t give up. I don´t give up. I will not abandon the working people to give satisfation to some selfish rich men… I´ll continue in the thick of things untill God will”.
