Desaires divinos en Buenos Aires. Cuestiones de protocolo en la Orden de Predicadores en el siglo XVIII
Abstract
RESUMEN. En este trabajo trataremos de reconstruir tres incidentes, ocurridos en 1687 y en 1774, que relacionados con el ceremonial y protocolo propio del Antiguo Régimen, tuvieron como protagonistas a los frailes dominicos del convento porteño, y al cabildo local. Estos hechos pusieron en evidencia no sólo las tensiones existentes entre las distintas caras del mismo poder, sino también la vitalidad que estos sucesos tenían para sus actores, de tal manera que terminaban involucrando a la sociedad que los rodeaba. Los casos en estudio, emergieron de la lectura de los libros de consejo del Archivo del Convento de Santo Domingo de Buenos Aires y de los Acuerdos del Extinguido Cabildo de Buenos Aires, las dos voces y fuentes principales involucradas en esta investigación, lo que permitió analizar la palabra escrita para dirimir el juego sutil del poder y el accionar de los participantes en las distintas medidas tomadas por ambas instituciones para dar solución a los desaires que una y otra se inculpaban. In this paper, we will try to reconstruct three incidents, occurred in 1687 and 1774, which related to the ceremonial and protocol proper to the Old Regime. The Dominican friars of the Buenos Aires’ convent, and the local town hall were who played a leading role in. These facts revealed not only the tensions between the different factions of the same power, but also the vitality that these events had for their actors, in such way that they ended up involving the society that surrounded them. The cases in question emerged from the reading of the council books of the Archives of the Convent of Santo Domingo of Buenos Aires and of the Agreements of the Extinct Cabildo of Buenos Aires, the two main voices and sources involved in this investigation, which allowed to analyze the written word to solve the hidden game of power and the actions of the participants in the different decisions taken by both institutions, to solve their misunderstandings they were accused of.
