Del Rosario de Cristo al Cristo del Rosario. Un periplo histórico- iconográfico entre Italia y España (siglos XVII-XVIII)
Abstract
RESUMEN. Durante los siglos XVII y XVIII España e Italia y, más concretamente Sevilla y Nápoles, son referentes de una extraordinaria difusión del Rosario que en gran medida definen la religiosidad culta y, sobre todo, la popular y genera una icono- grafía mayoritariamente normalizada y que ha llegado a nuestros días, pero también otra, minoritaria y en parte un tanto heterodoxa, centrada en el sentido cristológico del Rosario, especialmente los Misterios Dolorosos, y su valor salvífico muy cercano al sacramental. Esta iconografía, propiamente napolitana, tendrá una secuela hispana en la singular advocación del Cristo del Rosario en tierras de Extremadura. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Spain and Italy, and more specifically Seville and Naples, are referents of an extraordinary diffusion of the Rosary that to a large extent define educated religiosity and, above all, the popular and generates a mostly standardized iconography that has arrived to our days, but also another, minority and in part somewhat heterodox, centered on the Christological sense of the Rosary, especially the Sorrowful Mysteries, and its salvific value very close to the sacramental. This iconography, properly Neapolitan, will have a Hispanic sequel in the singular dedication of the Cristo del Rosario in the lands of Extremadura.
