Biographical lies and prosopographical truth? French perspectives for the contemporanian history of the Order of Preachers

This article discusses the methodological limitations of biography, reviewing three recent biographies on French Dominicans, and advocates combining it with prosopography, citing the Dictionnaire biographique des Frères Prêcheurs as an example.
