Abstract
With the edition of the History of Saint Peter Martyr contained in a surviving codex at the Royal Saint Dominic of Madrid we announce a Castilian text not published until today. After a brief biography of Saint Peter of Verona, the paleographic transcription of the story, a linguistic characterization and an analysis of the sources -of which the Golden Legend is the main-, a critical edition of the text is offered. As a protomartyr of the Order of Friars Preachers, this holy Italian friar had a remarkable relevance and diffusion in the countries of Catholic faith and this story in medieval Castilian is early proof of that. Keywords: Saint Peter Martyr, Hagiography, Golden Legend, Order of Friars Preachers, Medieval Castilian Prose, The Royal Saint Dominic of Madrid.Downloads
